The Sports Village in Vaughan, Ontario is a multi-faceted recreational facility northwest of Toronto, boasting four NHL sized ice rinks, five beach volleyball courts, a rock climbing tower, 3 on 3 basketball courts and baseball diamonds.
The excitement of the sports venue carries into events in the Sports Village meeting rooms and restaurant, and into the main concourse which looks onto the arenas. When the Sports Village decided to make their display and audio technology as cutting edge as their sports facilities, Videoscope got the call.

Step one: remove all the dated tube televisions.
Step two: replace them with twelve sleek new Panasonic flat panel displays.
Step three: update the outdoor sound system.
Two 42” Panasonic displays are now strategically positioned at the entrance to the concourse to show the day’s game schedule.
Two 50” Panasonic displays, promoting valued Sports Village sponsors are placed above glass walls that look onto the ice rinks.
Eight 42” panels, tuned to current sporting events, make the Hot Shots Bar & Grill a real hot spot for those important corporate and team meetings, or just a great place to unwind and enjoy a meal, a frosty beverage, and the sport du jour.A professional rack is discreetly tucked away in the Hot Shots’ service area, packed with 2 satellite feeds, DVD and VHS players and a 12 by 12 Extron Matrix switcher that allows staff to easily select what feeds each of the displays, including any of three projectors.
The restaurant patio spills over to the beach volley ball courts, where patrons can enjoy the excitement of games announced on the powerful TOA audio system, as well as exhilarating tunes, to get them in the mood for game time. Videoscope installed the audio system with weather resistant speakers aimed at the courts, so residential neighbours will not be disturbed. Control for the audio system, also in the rack, allows game announcements to replace the music.Videoscope System Design Consultant, Carlos Aita, worked on the upgrade projects. “The Sports Village staff was enthusiastic about having a more sophisticated venue with the addition of this high end technology,” says Carlos.
Bryan Santarossa, Director of Finance & Operations for The Sports Village comments: "The whole Videoscope team listened to exactly what we wanted in each step of our video and audio system transformation. They recommended a solution that not only worked within our budget framework, but produced the best possible value in terms of both video and audio, for the long term!"
