When style-challenged candidates put themselves in the hands of the Style by Jury experts, they have found the one stop that provides a complete makeover: hair, clothes, make-up, even cosmetic dentistry and dermatology.

Videoscope is the one stop technical shop for Planetworks, the producer of the popular makeover series.

“Videoscope has always been there for us”, says Planetworks Executive Producer Jeff Preyra. “Because of our tight shooting schedule, any delays especially with our multi-camera shoots would be a real problem. We count on Sam and his team to help us keep the tapes rolling even under the most challenging and complicated studio setups.”

Much of Style by Jury is shot field-style, with a camera following candidates for seven days of transformation. Planetworks purchased their camera from Videoscope. To deliver the highest level of performance, the camera comes to our Service Department regularly for a tune-up or customization.

But when the jury is in session, a four-camera studio-type shoot is required. These sessions take place at a focus group facility in two rooms with a one-way mirror between them. The challenge for Planetworks is to wire the venue as a studio for week-end marathon shoots.

Videoscope aims to make production run smoothly. Our rental specialists consulted with Planetworks to be sure that all the technical requirements were covered, providing three additional cameras and all the equipment needed for the “jury” shoots. Cameras are set up and matched in advance at Videoscope, with the settings stored on a flash card in case a re-set is needed on site. We provided a custom wiring diagram and colour coded cables so intercom, audio and video can be set up easily. In addition Videoscope provides all the studio accessories: distribution amps, head sets, monitors, even the EZ Jib for crane shots as well as video tape from our Recording Media Department.
